Star Trek debuted on September 8, 1966, and now that date is Star Trek Day, a day of festive celebrations online and off. Strange New Worlds on CBS! Lower Decks screenings! And more!

The “more” takes the form of a special program celebrating 50 years of Star Trek animation. Jerry O’Connell—Lower Decks’ Commander Jack Ransom—host a program that “will include segments that look back at memorable moments over the past 57 years; commemorate 50 years of Star Trek animation; pay tribute to Star Trek: Discovery, ahead of its final season; provide an exclusive sneak-peek clip from the upcoming fourth season of Star Trek: Lower Decks; and commemorate many other moments that highlight Star Trek’s legacy.”

The special will be available online at (deep breath!) StarTrek.com/Day, YouTube (the Paramount+ and Star Trek Official pages), Twitch (ParamountPlus) and Facebook (@StarTrekOnPPlus and @StarTrek); it will also be available to stream in the U.S. on Paramount+, Pluto TV (Paramount+ Picks, Star Trek, More Star Trek and Pluto TV Sci-Fi channels) and Mixable and will air on select local CBS affiliates, Comedy Central, Paramount Network, Pop TV, Fave TV and Smithsonian.com.

Speaking of select local CBS affiliates, the first two episodes of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will get a rare broadcast showing at 8 pm (ET/PT) on CBS.

But Lower Decks fans in Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, St. Louis, Washington D.C., Vancouver, Calgary, and London get the real treat: Star Trek: The Animated Celebration, a special (and free) screening event that includes four “specially selected” episodes of Star Trek: Lower Decks (and free concessions!). Registration is required to attend, and will open at 9 am PDT/12pm EDT on Thursday, August 24th. Head here for the scoop: http://gofobo.com/StarTrekAnimatedCelebration

For more details on all the day’s events, check StarTrek.com/Day.

This post was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
